Short Blog #8: A Peaceful Park

Nestled in the rural/suburbia of Pottageville lives a park. Pottageville park is filled with green grassy fields, groves of pine, a colourful jungle gym, and a stream that runs through its centre that my dog enjoys bathing in on the way home from a hot summer walk. Pottageville park is home to a pavilion that overlooks a pond, where members of the community get together to socialize, barbeque and play tennis at the neighbouring court. Since COVID-19, the use of the park has been quite different. Instead of lively barbeques, there are often picnic blankets spread out separately on the grass fields, while two friends socialize. Pictured here is my best friend and me last May, we hadn’t seen each other in months, however, we had a fun day in the park doing distanced activities like chatting, reading to each other, and reading each other tarots, which can all be done from a safe distance. The Pottageville park is such a great place for the community because there are often no places in our rural area to congregate, and since the park is so large, socially distanced activities are a fun pass time for the summer months.
